University of Amsterdam (UvA)
The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is an innovative, committed and independent university that is working towards a sustainable and prosperous future. Interdisciplinary research, cooperation and innovation are the key to scientific innovation. We rank among the international top institutions of higher education. Working with partners strengthens our teaching, research and impact. Together with the city, region and national and international partners, we seek an optimal interaction between science, practice and policy.
Energy related research and education:
The UvA will work even harder to accelerate the energy transition and to meet the Paris climate targets, by intensifying research and education in the field of sustainability and reinforcing the policy on sustainability in our own operations. Therefore energy and sustainability are key in many research and education programmes at UvA. These include technology driven Research Priority Area’s at the Faculty of Science as well as large multi-disciplinary collaborations like our climate institute SEVEN in which we interweave knowledge and research from all our 7 faculties to combat climate change and make vulnerable societies more resilient.
Many bachelor and master programmes include modules on energy and sustainability. Focused energy-related programmes and courses at UvA are Future of Energy, Future Planet Studies, Science for Energy and Sustainability, Science technology and Innovation, Sun, Energy and Materials, The Circular City, Environmental Economics, Complex Systems and Policy.
